Single Hung Window. A single hung window mainly consists of upper sash and low sash. In contrast to double hung window, upper sash on single hung window can not be moved, while lower sash open upward and downward freely. Double Hung Window. There is a similar apperance on double hung window and single hung window. The primary difference for them is merely structure of upper and lower sash. Both of sashes can be operated up and down and hold in position by a device named friction.
